Our focus is on changing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s lives through a strength-based model of business ownership, participation in the Victorian economy and creating an employment pathway for the Indigenous community.**

This is an exciting opportunity to work with Kinaway, our members and partners to increase economic opportunities available to First Nation owned Businesses, to lead their own businesses and participates in Victoria’s economy.

**About the Position**

Will be dedicated to coordinating First Nation Businesses. The Broker role aims to play a pivotal role in advancing the economic well-being and overall quality of life for Kinaway members and their respected communities.
- This broker position will likely involve the need to travel regionally. Such locations may include, Mildura, Bendigo, Ballart, Gippsland, Gippsland Region Geelong, Geelong Region, Wangaratta Horsham.
- The successful applicant will work closely in regional areas to better understand the local economy. This knowledge will help the broker link regional businesses with opportunities in metropolitan areas.
- As a Broker your main expectation is to support Kinaway Members to enhance their operations, from legal compliance to marketing, overall improving their competitive advantage leading to enhanced economic outcomes for their business.
- Establish localised networks of Aboriginal businesses and intending businesses
- Support Aboriginal businesses by working collaboratively across community, industry, and the private sector to strengthen partnerships and leverage business opportunities
- Support and incubate the development of focussed projects, including brokering appropriate information, advice, and access to professional services for Victorian Aboriginal businesses
- Develop and implement business networking opportunities and events
- Develop and implement business capability workshops and webinars
- Support the development of business visibility and profiling activities
- Contribute to sector development activities, programs, and projects to foster business development and incubation in the Aboriginal business sector
- Build and maintain relationships with communities, relevant organisations, and other key stakeholders
- Assisting development of local Aboriginal businesses to capitalise on identified opportunities

FullTime 12 months contract with possible extension | 38 Hour Week | Modern South Melbourne Office | Fun & Vibrant Team
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal individuals and communities to enable and support self-determination
- Demonstrated experience in development and delivery of solutions in the areas of small business, procurement, employment and/or community development.
- Experience in the implementation of strategies, the development of action plans and/or the implementation of projects to meet related project outputs and outcomes.
- Experience in mentoring, coaching, training and/or provision of advice and information to customers/clients in customer focussed roles.
- Experience in developing and project managing events
- Demonstrated communication skills including an understanding of digital marketing and social media.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders across multiple organisations.
- Excellent time management skills, including the ability to be flexible, develop contingencies and multi-task.
