**Employment Opportunity**

The APS Level 6 Data Analyst will contribute to the uplift in AGD's analytics capabilities in line with its Analytics Strategy. The Data Analyst will contribute to analytical projects and initiatives to inform, influence and enhance policy development and decision making. The role will also involve collaborating with stakeholders and improving the governance and use of data across the Attorney-General's Department.
- Identify, interpret and analyse data using statistical and linking techniques to inform policy development and decision making.
- Contribute to analytical projects in collaboration with diverse stakeholders in a complex and sensitive environment.
- Produce data analytics reports, visualisations and recommendations to inform policy development and decision making based on evidence.
- Contribute to standards and guidance to support best-practice data collection, use and sharing, and deliver programs of work such as data quality initiatives.
- Provide advice to departmental staff on best practices in data analysis.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the development and implementation of data policy, evaluation and behavioural insights initiatives.

Additionally, it would be desirable to have:

- Tertiary qualifications and experience in statistics, mathematics, economics, econometrics, data science or a related field.
- Experience in delivering complex statistical analysis and modelling using software such as R, Python, SQL or Stata.
- Sound project management skills including the ability to develop, monitor and meet objectives across multiple projects.
- Experience in working with data from a variety of sources, as well as identifying and remediating data quality issues and developing data quality improvement processes.
