**The Role**
This position offers the opportunity for a suitably motivated and experienced technical specialist or engineer to join the Spectrum Management Operations section in the Defence Spectrum Office (DSO).

To successfully perform this role, you will be a highly motivated person that possesses self-drive. You will also have a demonstrated knowledge of radiocommunications and the electromagnetic spectrum, or transferable technical skills and the ability to quickly attain this knowledge. You will have very good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities. You will also have very good written and verbal communications skills, and you must possess the personal values and behaviours to effectively work in a diverse and very busy operational team environment.

The following tasks will be conducted in this position:
Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct role as a frequency assigner;
- Conduct authorisation of radiofrequency spectrum for foreign forces operating domestically;
- Coordinate radiofrequency authorisations in support of Australian Defence Force units operating abroad;
- Provide 1st level Help Desk support for the Defence spectrum management system;
- Assist in the development of multiple standard operating procedures for audiences internal and external of DSO;
- Conduct annual spectrum audits; and
- Assist in the:

- Management of Defence’s band and apparatus licences;
- Development of spectrum management training documentation; and
- Development and management of spectrum related software tools.

**About our Team**
The Defence Spectrum Office Spectrum Management Operations (SMO) section is responsible for providing access to radio communications spectrum for ADF and foreign forces in support of Defence activities, exercises and operations domestically and abroad. The SMO section also provides administrative support to the management of software tools and related databases.

Strong written and verbal skills are also required in order to engage with internal and external stakeholders as necessary to achieve the required outcomes for Defence. As the Defence Spectrum Office Spectrum Management Operations section deals primarily with temporary and often short notice requests, the ability to prioritise and work proactively, work effectively and well in a high-pressure environment is essential.
