**The Opportunity**

Our **National Workers Compensation** Team is looking for a **Workers Compensation Claims Specialist** to join our team based in **Port Kembla NSW**. BlueScope Steel is a Group Self Insurer in NSW, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to build real connections with colleagues, influence outcomes, and see the positive impact of your work firsthand. You’ll provide personalised, one-on-one support to our injured employees, helping them navigate their recovery while ensuring compliance with our self-insured obligations.

Your expertise will make a genuine difference, improving outcomes for our people and the business.

**What Will You Do?**

Managing a portfolio of NSW claims, you will support both the business and injured employees by delivering proactive, empathetic, and expert guidance, you will:

- manage the full lifecycle of claims - from initial notification through to resolution, including complex and litigated matters
- liaise with injured employees, medical providers, and managers to drive sustainable return-to-work outcomes
- provide advice and strategies to business leaders across NSW and, on occasion, other states where we are self-insured
- ensure compliance with legislative and self-insurance requirements, maintaining accurate records and meeting governance obligations
- collaborate with colleagues, legal counsel, and external providers to deliver effective, timely, and compliant outcomes

As an experienced Workers Compensation Claims Specialist, you bring a proactive, solutions-focused approach to achieve positive outcomes for both our people and the business. In addition, you will bring:

- a strong understanding of NSW workers compensation legislation, with the ability to interpret multiple legislative frameworks
- effective communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage confidently with employees, managers, regulators, and legal counsel
- a customer-service mindset with empathy for injured workers and the ability to guide leaders across the organisation
- sound technical capability, including working knowledge of payroll systems, claims/injury management systems, Microsoft Office, and workers compensation codes
