Your position will be located within the Central Specimen reception work unit at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. You will be responsible for performing a broad range of simple to complex pre-analytical procedures consistently and accurately, maintaining competence in the operational aspects in the role of Clinical Assistant. Note: This is an entry level position.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

- Demonstrated experience in or the ability to rapidly learn pre-analytical and post-analytical clinical laboratory tasks. Proven ability to solve problems and show initiative in the workplace.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to focus in a busy, complex environment.
- Highly developed customer focus with experience dealing with a variety of people and a high-level of awareness of impact of the individual on the overall customer experience.
- Understanding of laboratory quality systems and the requirements of NATA accreditation and ISO certification.
- Demonstrated high level skills, or ability to rapidly acquire in the use of AUSLAB and ieMR with intermediate keyboarding skills particularly for data entry.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to a positive team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to quality and service improvement activities in accordance with National Association of Testing Authority/International Standardisation Organisation (NATA/ISO) accreditation / certification.
- Ability to work additional shifts to support planned and unplanned leave within the team.
- Proven ability to manage time effectively in a highly process driven environment with competing priorities.

Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- While not mandatory, a Certificate III or IV in Pathology (Laboratory Assistance) or equivalent would be well regarded
- Will be required to participate in 24-hour shift and weekend roster arrangements.
