Hudson is assisting a well regarded Australian Government Agency in seeking an EL1 with experience leading a team and who has a strong understanding of the health system.

**About the Role**: We are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join a key initiative within the **Health Portfolio** in an **Executive Level 1 (EL1) Assistant Director** role. This is a great opportunity to lead a small but impactful team dedicated to improving cancer care and coordination across Australia.

In this role, you will:

- Lead a team of two APS6 staff, driving the implementation and growth of the Australian Comprehensive Cancer Network (ACCN), a national initiative that connects stakeholders across the cancer care sector.
- Provide secretariat support to the ACCN Committee, overseeing stakeholder engagement, coordination and the management of the ACCN portal.
- Manage internal deliverables such as project management, presentation inputs and reporting.
- Contribute to the broader strategic vision for cancer care, working closely with other teams and key stakeholders within the Health Portfolio.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Lead and manage a small team to deliver on strategic initiatives, including growing the ACCN and ensuring its effective coordination.
- Oversee the ACCN portal, ensuring it remains a key resource for stakeholders involved in cancer care and research.
- Handle the internal coordination of resources, including project timelines, reporting and risk management.
- Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure the effective execution of the network's objectives.
- Mentor and support team members, fostering a high-performance culture that drives results.

**About You**: To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:

- Significant leadership experience, including managing a team and driving strategic initiatives to successful outcomes.
- A strong understanding of the health system.
- Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence decisions and build long-term relationships.
- Strong project management and risk management experience with a track record of delivering complex projects within set timeframes.
- A collaborative, results-focused approach, with a commitment to fostering team development and continuous improvement.
