About the role
- The Koori Advisory Officer works to ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people referred to and participating in the CCDATC are offered culturally relevant interventions that are designed to maximise opportunities for meaningful and sustained rehabilitation
- This role will be responsible for informing the development and implementation of practices, policies and procedures that support continuous improvement, leading towards improved outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants who are on a DATO.
- The role will lead engagement activities with Aboriginal communities and organisations to promote cultural safety within the CCDATC and facilitate meaningful pathways to self-determination, with the support of the Operations Manager.
- As a member of the participant-centred team, this role will deliver a high standard of culturally relevant and holistic care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants.
- A sound knowledge of Victorian Aboriginal culture, society, and an ability to communicate effectively with Victorian Aboriginal people is required.
- An appreciation and sensitive approach to the needs of, and aspirations, of Victorian Aboriginal communities is essential.
