The Family Violence Practitioner is a role within Community and Family Service and is accountable to the Supervisor, CFSS Pathways for:
- providing efficient and quality initial assessment for the purposes of triaging from the centralised referral line for key stakeholders to mitigate child protection risks and improve safety for vulnerable children and their families
- strengthening communication and understanding across the child protection and domestic/ family violence support systems for timely and effective responses to meeting the needs of children and their families
- promoting and developing strong partnerships, with both government and non-government agencies, to create best outcomes for families
- working in partnership with all stakeholders across the child protection, education and human service systems, to identify and implement responses for vulnerable families
- providing consultation on, and a specialist lens for, referrals received by the Pathways Service where children and families are experiencing family violence. - Promoting and supporting skill development within the Pathways Service team in identifying and responding to domestic and family violence high risk indicators.
Key outcomes and accountabilities
1. Undertake high quality and in-depth written risk assessments, in accordance with CFSS Pathways Service practice model, with a particular focus on referrals where family violence is the primary child safety factor.
2. Provide consultation within the Pathways Service team on referrals where family violence is a factor, including specialist recommendations and advice on a range of options to achieve outcomes of safety.
3. Develop local, regional and state-wide networks with a broad range of government and non-government agencies, including building and maintaining effective partnerships to promote joint planning to improve outcome for vulnerable, or at-risk children, young people and families.
4. Integrate contemporary information and research evidence with practice experience to support decision making, innovative thinking and objective analysis.
5. Promote and support the skill development and capacity of the Pathways Service team to respond to referrals and undertake informed decision making where children and their families are experiencing family violence.
6. Develop a community response to child safety and wellbeing matters, including collaborating with community partners to identify service gaps, vulnerable populations and determine and implement joint solutions.
Note: Any other responsibilities in line with the classification level of the role as assigned by Line Manager and/or the Department. The responsibilities as specified above may be altered in accordance with the changing requirements of the role.

- Must hold a current Australian issued driver’s licence (equivalent to minimum class C).
- Incumbent will be required to be up to date on their COVID-19 vaccination status prior to engagement with DHS, unless it would be medically unsafe for the employee to do so.
**Essential Qualifications**

- An appropriate Social Work qualification from a recognised tertiary institution giving eligibility for full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers.

The **Office for Women **works across government and the community towards achieving gender equity and positive change for women in South Australia by developing policy and advising on issues affecting women to improve their safety, wellbeing and economic security. The office also oversees the Women’s Information Service to support women over the phone, online and in person, as well as regional safety hubs across the state.
