The Health Information Manager is an important position at Karitane to support clinicians to collect and store accurate medical records to meet medical/legal compliance requirements.
Karitane have been the leaders in parenting services since 1923. We provide support and education on the unique challenges of parenting to mums and dads with children from birth to 5 years of age. All our services are evidence based and delivered by a caring and highly trained professional team of child and family health nurses, paediatricians, social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists offering complete holistic care.

**STATUS/HOURS**:**Permanent part time - 24 Hours**
**VACCINATION CATEGORY**:**A - including annual Influenza vaccine**
**KEY RELATIONSHIPS**:**Executives, Clinical staff; researchers, administrative staff and SWSLHD representatives**
**PURPOSE**
Karitane is seeking an experienced Health Information Manager to join the governance and corporate services team, to maintain and manage clinical information services at Karitane. The role is responsible for ensuring Karitane meets legislative, best practice and consistency of client health information, and contributes to the delivery of effective and efficient health services by supporting electronic medical records for service delivery, decision making and reporting activities.
Responsibilities include managing all aspects of the creation, storage and destruction of patient records, collecting and analysing patient data, managing access requests in accordance with relevant legislation, generating and utilising health informatics to evaluate and inform service delivery and models of care.

**SELECTION CRITERIA**
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Health Information
- Excellent understanding of medical record management
- Comprehensive knowledge of applicable legislation and policy relating to Health Information Management medical/legal compliance and privacy standards which protect and promote patient confidentiality
- Previous experience supporting staff for statutory and health requirements in maintaining client health information with quality control procedures
- Demonstrated experience with computerised patient administration systems
- Previous experience in collecting and reporting inpatient and outpatient activity data
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and good interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage administrative staff.
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision, and as part of the team.
- Current NSW Drivers Licence.
**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**
Permanent part time employment in accordance with The Named NSW (Non-Declared) Health Managers (State) Award 2009 and any other Agreement that follows thereafter. Karitane services are provided at a number of sites within the Sydney Metropolitan Area.
The majority of Karitane’s services close for approximately two weeks over the Christmas/New Year period, during which time employees are required to take leave.
