**Selection Criteria**:
SC1 - Ability to carry out a physical role, with demonstrated gardening/handyperson aptitude.

SC2 - Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage and maintain grounds and gardens and complete grounds works as required within a school environment. Skills in the use of tools/technical equipment as relevant to the position.

SC3 - Demonstrated technical knowledge, expertise and proficiency in minor repairs and maintenance to the interior and exterior of buildings within a school environment. Skills in the use of tools/technical equipment as relevant to the position.

SC4 - Demonstrated ability to be flexible, work independently and collaboratively to maintain the school buildings and grounds.

SC5 - Demonstrate capacity to understand and work within OH&S guidelines.

**Role**:
The attendance requirement is 2 days per week 7:30am - 3:36pm. Additional attendance may be required during the January school vacation period.

This position requires a motivated individual willing to undertake a range of functions mainly in the area of general grounds maintenance and general building maintenance. Ideally the successful applicant should be experienced in these tasks and be familiar with the needs and working of a school.
- Carry out non-specialist building and grounds maintenance work under direction of Principal Class Officer and/or Business Manager
- Maintain school grounds to a high standard including garden beds, oval, nature strips ensuring areas are neat, weed & litter free
- Ability to climb ladders and work from heights (Licence required) for the purposes of retrieval of sporting equipment and cleaning gutters/spouting
- Moving and maintaining furniture and equipment, as directed
- Monitoring waste bins for recycling and general waste
- Cleaning of bio-hazards, as required
- Carry out required inspections as needed, addressing any hazards identified.
- Implement appropriate OH&S and risk management procedures
- Maintain the Schools Plant, Electrical & Equipment registers
- Be responsible for the maintenance of buildings, grounds and facilities ensuring Essential Safety Measures (ESM) and maintenance tasks are completed as per schedules
- Work within and comply with DE OH&S guidelines
- Observe safe work practices in accordance with school policy, training and instructions.
- Identify, report and where appropriate manage risks/hazards as to eliminate or mitigate against the risk recurring
- Other duties as determined by a Principal Class Officer and/or Business Manager

**Responsibilities**:
This position requires a motivated individual willing to undertake routine building and grounds maintenance tasks. Ideally the successful applicant should be experienced in these tasks and be familiar with the needs and workings of a school. This is a physical position primarily in an outdoor environment.

The responsibilities includes establishing a regular buildings check program including, but not limited to:

- Cleaning of split systems and air purifier filters
- Basic electrical works (i.e. changing light globes)
- Maintain amenities/minor cleaning tasks where required to ensure OHS requirements are met. (i.e. unblocking toilets)
- General pest control
- Painting repairs and graffiti removal
- Make safe support (i.e. secure broken windows)
- Carrying out minor repairs both internally and externally as logged via Compass Issue Tracker (any work requiring specialised expertise will be referred to a contractor as required)
- Liaise with contractors who may be required to perform scheduled or emergency maintenance in the school
- Ordering and purchasing of goods as required
- Maintaining the AIMS work orders with all maintenance and repairs activity
- Building projects and furniture repairs
- Gutter and drain cleaning with appropriate licences
- Willing to undergo additional training/licences as required by the school.
- Working through a schedule of regular tasks and maintenance audits as directed such as facility audits and department inspections checking for health or safety hazards with the ability to address issues accordingly, where possible
- Keep storage facilities clean and tidy
- Opening and closing of school gates at times

The role includes establishing a regular garden program including, but not limited to:

- Maintaining all grass areas including watering, mowing, trimming and edging
- Prune trees of any unsafe limbs
- Maintaining all existing garden beds including edging, weeding, pruning, planting, mulching and watering.
- Establishing new garden beds as directed.
- Maintain nature strips to be neat and litter free
- Sweeping/blowing all paved areas
- Ability to manage an irrigation water system for timers, leaks and repairs
- Other duties as determined by a Principal Class Officer and/or Business
