Your Role St John of God Geelong Hospital

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Electrician to join our team at St John of God Geelong Hospital. In this role, you will be responsible for providing electrical maintenance and minor repairs across the hospital’s facilities. Additionally, you will perform other handyman duties as reasonably requested by managers and supervisors.

You will participate in an on-call roster and planned overtime due to scheduled maintenance activities.

Your role will require a working knowledge of Australian Standards relevant to the Health Industry and the highest possible standards of electrical work to ensure patient comfort and safety.

The Position- Maintenance of electrical and mechanically based plant and equipment within the hospital in accordance with the planned maintenance schedules, work requests system and statutory requirements.- Respond promptly to work requests that may come verbally from the Facility Services Manager, through requisition forms, or in emergency situations by telephone, and discuss any delays with the Facility Services Manager.- Attend to requisitions in order of priority as allocated in MEX. Generally, a patient’s comfort and safety is given the highest priority.- Oversee the installation of new plant and equipment including associated wiring.- Be an active member of the engineering department core team and foster the concepts of continuous improvement.- Oversee & maintain the hospital Alarm system & the hospital Access control systems.- Perform statutory electrical test in accordance with the relevant compliance codes.- Regular testing of emergency power generators in conjunction with Risk Management Department.- Repair and maintenance of Building Management system & electronic control of air conditioning units.- Acceptance and in-service testing of electrical/electronic equipment.- Obtain prior authorisation from the person in charge when accessing any non-public areas of the hospital.- Clearly identify with appropriate danger tags any plant or equipment taken out of commission for service.- Take part in shift roster (day shift only) with differing start/finish times.- Participate in an on-call roster (1 in 4) and planned overtime for scheduled maintenance activities.- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards such as AS2500, AS3000, AS3003, AS3009, and AS3200.- Conduct regular statutory electrical tests and ensure compliance with relevant codes.- Collaborate with the maintenance team to meet operational goals and service requests.

You will have an Indepth understanding of electrical regulations, Australian Standards, and safety compliance and be an A Grade Electrician with a valid trade qualification. You will possess proven experience in a maintenance role, preferably within a hospital or aged care facility (preferred but not essential).

To succeed you will have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to relate to others in a professional manner. An ability to read/interpret electrical schematics and blueprints and strong problem-solving skills will be essential to this role.
