We have a newly created opportunity for a Technical Lead to deliver Data Science and Insights priorities within the Analytical Applications domain. This position could be based in either Melbourne or Sydney.

**The Opportunity**

In this strategic position, you will drive critical decisions regarding programming languages, frameworks, and other tools. This role will lead and coach other developers to foster a culture of continuous improvement and consistent coding practices.

**Daily responsibilities will include**:

- Regularly review code to ensure quality, functionality, and adherence to design guidelines. This includes providing constructive feedback to developers, as well as defining and maintaining these guidelines.
- Lead and coach front-end and back-end developers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and consistent coding practices.
- Make strategic decisions regarding programming languages, frameworks, and other tools used in the project, including how to maximise our use of our AWS cloud environment.
- Collaborate with other stakeholders such as product managers, solution architects, business analysts and business stakeholders to align technical solutions with customer needs, and technical integrations with other business systems
- Work with other technical capability leads, such as our data engineering lead, to ensure development practices remain consistent across all domains and products.
- Help produce and validate technical designs.
- Assist in project planning and coordination, helping our projects stay on schedule and within budget.

**About You**
- Appropriate tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field is essential. Advanced degrees or certifications is advantageous.
- Significant experience (7+ years) in software development and demonstrable experience in leading and coaching developers.
- Strong proficiency and experience with SQL Alchemy and Django
- Very strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency in multiple programming languages, frameworks and tools commonly used in web development. Knowledge of Typescript, React, Python and PostgreSQL would be very beneficial.
- Proficiency in working with and architecting solutions with Docker containers.
- Proficiency with Git, GitHub and GitHub Actions.
- Very high confidence in reviewing code and provide clear, constructive feedback to other developers.
- Experience with geospatial data or mapping platforms is not essential, but highly advantageous.
