Our Youth Mental Health Programs provide evidence-based interventions and support to young people aged 12 - 25 years, comprising primary care and specialist case management services.

**About the role**

We’re looking for a skilled, experienced person to join our Youth Engagement, Community and Lived Experience (YECLE) team to lead the revitalisation of our Peer Support Program, drive its integration into our clinical programs at Southport and Meadowbrook and contribute more broadly as we continue to build our peer and lived experience workforce.

The position will be primarily located at headspace Southport with regular visits to our partner centre at Meadowbrook. The role services our specialist Youth Early Psychosis program as well as headspace Primary and our co-located trauma support service, Lighthouse.

The Peer Support Program Coordinator (PSPC) is responsible for the planning, coordination, and delivery of the Peer Support program, as well as the day-to-day support and direction of the Youth and Family/Carer Peer Support Workers who deliver individual peer support, groupwork, client and systemic advocacy. The role ensures the continuous development, improvement and best-practice implementation of peer work and ongoing review, development and implementation of local policies and practices.

This is a part-time position, working 3 days per week (22.8 hours). There is flexibility to choose
your workdays between Monday to Thursday.

The gross hourly rate for this position ranges between $44.92 to $46.95 per hour + super + salary packaging, depending on skills and experience.

**What you’ll bring**

**To succeed in this role, there are some essentials you’ll need**:

- Essential: _
- Approved tertiary qualification Mental Health Peer Work, Youth Work, Community Development, Allied Health or in a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in the development or coordination of a program related to carer or consumer participation, lived experience, peer support or similar.
- Experience working in a mental health service setting, with demonstrated knowledge of the intersecting difficulties faced by young people experiencing mental health challenges, and the impact on families/carers.
- Previous experience in supporting, mentoring, or coordinating staff members or a small team.
- Highly developed organisation, prioritisation, and time management skills.
- Demonstrated skill and aptitude for problem solving and creative solutions.
- Experience in the development of policies, procedures, and written work instructions.
- Strong, effective communication skills, with the ability to establish and sustain collaborative relationships across a large, dispersed, multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to interface with, guide and balance the needs of a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision and direction, take initiative and ownership of program deliverables.
- Skills and confidence in the use of IT (MS Suite) and the aptitude to learn internal software/programs.

- Previous experience in a Carer/Consumer Participation, Peer Support or Lived Experience role.
- Knowledge/familiarity with frameworks, principles underpinning consumer/carer participation, co-design and/or the lived experience/peer workforce.
- Experience in administering a small program budget.
