**The opportunity**:
The Infectious Diseases research group focuses on research to enhance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of infectious diseases in infants, children, and adults. The team leads a number of clinical and laboratory-based research studies and involves researchers with a range of expertise, including laboratory-based researchers, data-managers, study nurses, clinical trial coordinators and clinicians. We have a particular interest in infections that are important to child health worldwide such as tuberculosis and respiratory infections. Our laboratory research encompasses microbiological and immunological studies to explore the mechanisms by which pathogens cause disease and their interaction with the host immune response.

Currently the team are focused on a number of projects including the analysis of two clinical trials. The BRACE trial is a phase III, two group, multisite, placebo randomised controlled trial (RCT) that includes nearly 7,000 healthcare workers across Australia, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom and Brazil. It tests whether BCG vaccination reduces the severity and impact of COVID-19. The MIS BAIR trial is a phase III, two group, multisite RCT in over 1200 infants to assess the effect of neonatal BCG vaccination on clinical allergy and infection outcomes over the first five years of life. Our projects are funded by multiple sources, including the NHMRC and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. These trials have extensive biobank and data-sharing components.

The Project Officer supports the Infectious Diseases research group leadership team and works closely with the Infectious Diseases technical teams, to provide project support for the BRACE and MIS BAIR trials, and sub studies, according to protocol, meeting relevant quality and ethical standards. This includes assisting with the coordination of data and sample sharing processes, publications, timely and accurate communication, and supporting project plans and workflows.

Undertaking a range of administrative functions in support of the various project objectives of the research group, which includes purchasing, shipping, document tracking and other functions as required
Contributing to the preparation, collection and distribution of information and data as required for the research group, including meeting agendas and minutes, presentations, documents for submission to ethics, and reports to funding agencies
Robust maintenance of information management systems and complies with filing procedures across the BRACE trial including the Trial Management File, SmartSheets, and SharePoint
Facilitating, contributing, or leading internal or external meetings/workshops with stakeholders with support and direction to achieve project outcomes
