
Counselling Service Navigator/team Leader

THE ROLE
This position will lead a small team preparing for implementation and delivering the Counselling and Psychological Care (CPC) components of Redress for Historical Institutional Abuse (Redress) and the National Redress Scheme for people who have experienced institutional child sexual abuse (the National Scheme).
Working closely with people with lived and living experience and support services, the Counselling Service Navigator (Team Leader) will lead implementation and delivery of the CPC functions of Redress and the National Scheme and adapt policy, program documentation and processes to support delivery of these functions.
Additional key components of the role include contributing to the development and delivery of trauma informed processes and procedures to implement Redress and deliver high quality services.
This position will work also collaboratively with colleagues across the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, support services, other government departments, senior executives, facilitators as well as people who have experienced institutional child abuse and neglect to provide trauma-informed support to participants who choose to engage in restorative engagement processes.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Effectively supervise and provide leadership to a team of employees by:
- leading and supporting individuals to achieve their potential and contribution to organisational goals and outcomes
- modelling behaviours integral to good people management and departmental values
- where relevant, managing and monitoring specific improvement objectives in annual improvement plans relating to the area of responsibility
- pro-actively building and maintaining positive relationships with peers and stakeholders across the organisation.
- Provide a point of contact for people who contact Redress and the National Scheme and provide them with information, referrals, support and advice as required.
- Provide trauma-informed support to people who contact Redress building safety and trust throughout the process.
