**Full Job Description**

**Recreation Disability Support Workers required **to provide quality care and support for our clients in our recreation program including overnight camps, activities, dinners, including weekend, daytime and night time activities.

Independent Disability Services (IDS), Head office based in Carlton and deliver services across Greater Melbourne and recreation activities across Victoria.

**The Role**

IDS Recreation Support Workers are responsible for supporting clients participate in recreational activities to ensure that they have every opportunity to live a meaningful & fulfilling life, with choice & control.

**Responsibilities include**:

- Preparing and co-ordinating day and evening recreational activities including meal preparation
- Promoting and strengthening communication and social skills and positive relationships between clients
- Empowering clients to live their best life
- Motivating staff and clients
- Managing shopping and petty cash
- Working within a budget.
- Competent - Having the necessary ability, knowledge, or skill to do something successfully.
- Resourceful - Having the ability to find quick and clever ways to overcome difficulties.
- Reliable - The consistently good quality or performance, able to be trusted.
- Sincere - Free from pretense or deceit; proceeding from genuine feelings.
- Empathetic - Showing an ability to understand and share the feelings of others.

The role will provide IDS's Clients with opportunities for choice, self-advocacy and participation in facilitating access to the community and activities.

- Manual Handling (Desired)
