**The team**
This role is an exciting opportunity to join the Centre for Work Health and Safety to help develop solutions that prevent harm in the workplace and support better work health and safety regulation. Guided by its Research Blueprint, the Centre drives collaboration among academia, business, workers and government to create knowledge for practice and a smarter approach to work health and safety.
As a key member of the Centre’s Research and Development team, you will be supporting the delivery of data analytics projects and programs in partnership with key stakeholders to develop solutions and unearth pragmatic insights to inform policy and practice, as well as innovative approaches to improve work health and safety outcomes for the people of NSW.
Some of the exciting projects you will be working on include:
- Investigating national trends and developments in work health and safety
- Identifying high-risk workplaces using predictive modelling and machine learning
- Developing tools for tracking progress against regulatory strategic goals
- Designing and maintaining business intelligence dashboards
**Key responsibilities**
- Collect, filter and clean large datasets from multiple sources to develop, implement and maintain databases and systems.
- Identify, analyse and interpret complex data sets and communicate trends and insights as commentary, insights and visualisations in a range of formats (e.g., web, dashboards, performance reports and research reports).
- Develop and maintain relationships through effective communication, negotiation and issues management to ensure deliverables are met.
**Key challenges**
- Responding flexibly to requests and provide advice while balancing competing demands.
- Providing concise advice to users who may not understand the context, assumptions and caveats associated with the analysis.
**About you**
- Relevant tertiary qualifications Statistics, Mathematics, Social Science, Actuary, Engineering, Computer Science, Econometrics, or equivalent experience.
- Practical experience managing, analysing, summarising and interpreting large complex data sets; supporting the delivery of visualisations, tables and dashboards.
- Strong capability and experience in the use of statistical software and data tools (e.g., Microsoft Power BI).
- Ability to collaborate and communicate complex information to peers and a range of diverse stakeholders
