**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
Hopesway is looking for a support worker for a young male adult client requiring community access. The support worker must have availability 9am - 5pm Wednesdays on a fortnightly basis with the opportunity for hours and shifts to grow over time. The client has strong interest in beach activities, gaming and trains.

A Disability Support Worker is responsible for implementing training and support services aimed at maximising the living, employment, social and recreational skills of people with a disability. Community inclusion, independence, decision making and personal choice should be promoted through these supports, with a focus on individual needs.

**TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT**: Casual

**REPORT TO**: Disability Service Manager

**LOCATION**: Burpengary QLD.

**MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES**: Providing care and support to clients in line with their personalised care plans, including a range of tasks such as:

- Personal care
- Domestic assistance
- Community access
- Social support
- Transport
- Meal preparation
- Group participation
- Life skills development

**QUALIFICATIONS** /

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Minimum of Cert III in Individual Support, Mental Health, Aged Care, Community Services, Disability Worker or similar
- Current WWCC, Blue/Yellow Card, Police Check and First Aid/CPR
- Driver’s License
- Reliable and comprehensively insured vehicle
- Smart phone

**EXPERIENCE**:

- **Minimum of 6 months relevant experience**:

- Experience in supporting people with disability
- Working with clients with ASD ADHD and mental health issues
- Demonstrated continuing professional development
- Knowledge of continuous quality improvement principles.

**SKILLS**:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to build rapport and trust with clients and their families
- Able to understand and recognise when mental health issues are presenting
- Person-centred approach to clients
- Strong time management and ability to prioritise
- Ability to use Microsoft Office suite of programs and other computer systems for record keeping
- Excellent problem solving and conflict management skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and maintain good working relationships.

**Job Type**: Casual

**Salary**: $28.00 - $38.00 per hour
