**The Role**
Within the Animal Attendants and Trainers function an APS2 Dog Handler is accountable under routine direction to perform and achieve straightforward work relating to training and handling of canines for Defence operations within an integrated workforce. They are accountable to have a basic understanding of and compliance with relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.

An APS2 Dog Handler may provide some initial coaching and support to new or less experienced Defence employees on routine practices and procedures.

The APS2 Dog Handler may be required to liaise with stakeholder to provide information on straightforward and routine matters to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes. They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.

**About our Team**
The APS Canine Supply Team are responsible for the entire life cycle of canines bred at RAAF Security and Fire School. The role involves participating in development activities from birth until graduation. The team work interactively with ADF trainers and contracted cleaning staff to meet MWD course requirements.
