Reporting to the National Health and Safety Manager, and based at our Banyo site, this role will be responsible for implementing a wide range of safety initiatives.
**In this role you will be responsible for**:
Maintain risk registers, incident registers and corrective action registers for our Brisbane manufacturing site
Ensure all appropriate actions are taken to implement the company WH&S management systems in line with policy and procedures and relevant legislations
Working collaboratively with and coaching the Operations Leaders, Managers, HS teams to implement and maintain the HS plans and programs
Provide advice to managers and team members on compliance and legislation in regards to WHS
Setting up appropriate consultative mechanisms to ensure the involvement of everyone in the running of a safe operations, and drive and support processes for identifying, assessing, managing and recording hazards and risks
Provide training and coaching in Health & Safety requirements, regulations and best practices
Conduct regular site safety inspections
Review safe working procedures to ensure safety hazards are identified
Site audits and preparing reports and corrective actions following the audits
End to end management of incident reporting and investigations
Develop and conduct toolbox talks and safety alerts
Facilitate consultation of new and modified work processes and equipment
Conduct Risk Assessments and process reviews as required
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders across all departments
**To be successful in this role, you will**:
Qualified qualified in health and safety with solid recent experience working in a busy safety focused role within a manufacturing or distribution environment
Minimum 3-5 years’ experience working as Safety Advisor - within food manufacturing/distribution environment but not essential
Strong knowledge and experience in contemporary risk management practices and a good understanding of, and the ability to interpret WHS legislation
Thorough practical understanding and experience in effective management of safety
Self-starter with initiative, working as part of a dynamic team, and a commitment to working respectfully with individuals
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with employees at all levels as well as external providers, both written and verbally
Thorough practical knowledge of contemporary, effective, and sustainable Injury Management practices, including the importance of early intervention strategies and the positive health benefits of recovery at work
Experience and understanding with the use of claims management system
The ability to balance your approach between people and compliance is essential to the success of this role
Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
