**The opportunity**

We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Policy & Programs Officer who is dedicated to environmental protection. In this role you will develop and implement environmental policies, programs and projects, including conducting research and analysis, preparing recommendations for the development of policies and strategies, and implementing innovative solutions, to support the delivery of household problem waste services in NSW.

**About you**

Key tasks of the role include:

- Lead the development of environmental program strategies, plans and policies.
- Provide expert and timely advice on environment protection and related issues to internal and external clients and EPA staff.
- Prepare high-quality correspondence, briefings, reports, and other written material within agreed timeframes.
- Analyse complex environmental issues to develop innovative and strategic solutions for effective environmental outcomes.
- Manage project briefs, plans, resources, budgets, stakeholder consultation, and milestone reporting in accordance with EPA's project management protocols.
- Represent the EPA in various forums, including working groups, workshops, conferences, and inter-agency collaborations.
- Foster cooperative and professional relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

**About the team**

The Programs and Innovation Branch is dedicated to optimising resources for maximum impact. We prioritise transparency and collaboration in project delivery, developing stakeholder training campaigns and identifying emerging issues through extensive research and engagement.

The branch also manages major contracts that support a circular economy, such as the Container Deposit Scheme and household problem waste services.

By leveraging our expertise and innovative approaches in resource allocation and recycling, stakeholder engagement, analysis and research, the Programs and Innovation Branch drives positive environmental outcomes and fosters a culture of collaboration within the EPA.
