**About the Opportunity**

The Blast and Paint coordinator will plan, schedule, conduct, and record blast and paint activities as directed by the Blast and Paint MTL in a safe, effective and efficient manner. The aim is to maximise availability and reliability of the Collins Class Submarine fleet by Blast and Paint corrective and preventative maintenance in accordance with corporate policies and procedures.

**Responsibilities**

The Blast and Paint coordinator is to oversee within the individual ASC CCSM blast and paint maintenance projects that the production and subcontract tasks are scheduled correctly, providing a safe environment, ensuring de-confliction of tasks and procedural adherence.

The Blast and Paint coordinator will provide both technical and project support to boat teams during planning and execution phases to ensure continuous improvement and consistency across all five boat teams. This role will also help to ensure the lessons learnt from each project are captured and implemented. Some of the duties will include:

- Blast and Paint work pack vetting
- Report on the progress of the tanks for the tanks weekly scheduled meeting
- Manage paint schedule
- Day to day running of paint within tanks as directed by the Boat IC & Boat Superintendent
- ASC supervision/POC for on-site Paint/NDT
- Back fill MTL Blast and Paint during leave and high peak loads
- Planning and allocating various maintenance activity tasks
- Ensuring a positive morale and safe working culture within the work group
- Coordination of operations and contract labour in accordance with schedules (SPOD & SPOW)
- Progress reporting on behalf of Blast and Paint Contractor
- Capacity and skills planning
- Using your sound understanding of workforce conditions of employment, payroll and training requirements to effectively manage your team
- Working closely with a range of internal stakeholders to ensure operations run seamlessly
- Conduct Safety CCO & CCV
- NACE inspection and reports

**About you**
- Trade Certificate or Blast and paint qualification
- Level 2 Hot Work Training (MSMPER200 Work in accordance with an Issued Permit Hot Works)
- Confined Space Access
- NACE Level 2 is desirable
- AICIP qualified is desirable
- LMS - ChemAlert training
- Cert IV in Front Line Management and Leadership (optional but desired)
- Certificate in Training and Assessment (optional but desired)

**Eligibility**

This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.
