The Lab is a growing national network of community technology clubs with professional mentoring for 10-16 year-olds with Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome who are interested in computers.

We’re on the hunt for enthusiastic coders/gamers who are keen to share their passion for tech.

Mentors are an essential element of The Lab program and The Lab has had great success in the past recruiting mentors from Computer Science, IT and video games courses. We’re seeking the services of tech experienced young people interested in sharing their skills with enthusiastic young people in need.

Young people on the spectrum have the lowest rate of employment of any group with a disability and The Lab aims to address this disadvantage through weekly social and tech mentored sessions where young people get together in a supportive environment and share their passion for tech and games with peers. It’s a simple but effective model that’s running at over 30 venues around Australia and online.

What: Paid mentoring position at Lab sessions, 2 hours a week (increased as sessions grow).

Desired skills: A solid understanding of popular games that might include Minecraft, Roblox, and other group games. Understanding some of the common coding languages and game engines such as Unity, Unreal, Godot and others (some but not all are expected). Good interpersonal skills, consistency and reliability are very important.

**Salary**: $50.00 per hour

- Afternoon shift
- Flexible hours
