**About the Role**

We are looking for staff to join our Residential Care Team in Mandurah, for 4 Young People aged between 15 and 17. These Young People are looking for support to prepare for when they turn 18 and leave care. As a Residential Support Worker, your role involves creating a safe and nurturing home environment for Young People who have experienced childhood trauma, abuse or neglect.

We are looking for team members with expertise in supporting individuals who may exhibit challenging behaviours such as aggression, drug use, self injury and absconding. Your responsibilities include delivering personalised support and guidance, helping grow independent living skills, assisting with emotional regulation and providing opportunities for engagement in education and community activities.

**What the Young People are looking for**
- Fun and easy going staff who can bring good vibes into their house - but also be able to support them when they’re having a hard time and need someone to talk to

- Staff who understand Young People with trauma backgrounds
- To learn more about Maori traditions

***Key Responsibilities**
- Leaving Care planning and preparation
- Help Young People learn and practise emotion regulation strategies
- Play pool, basketball, online games and do activities like fishing and go karting
- Cook nutritious meals and snacks alongside the Young People so they can learn from you
- Help maintain a clean living environment and teach Young People these life skills
- Maintain Professional Boundaries and role model healthy relationships
- Updating case files, incident reporting and other admin duties

**Skills & Experience**
- Understand Trauma Informed Therapeutic Care and have the ability support Young People through emotional crises and “Listen to what we say and not how we say it”.
- Confident and safe driving for transportation to gym, Tafe and appointments, etc
- Experience working with Young People who have experienced significant trauma and neglect, including the management of behaviours of concern
- Certificate 4 in Youth work, Mental Health or relevant field - applicants studying in this field but not yet certified will be considered if they hold the relevant experience as well
