Position **Community Safety Officer**
Salary **Approximately $81,000 per annum (including shift penalties) **+ up to 13.5% superannuation**
The Town of Claremont is a progressive local government that was established in 1898 for the picturesque riverside suburbs of Claremont and Swanbourne. It is a busy and forward focused local government with dedicated staff who are committed to making a difference at a local level.
The Community Safety Officers are responsible for enforcing local laws as well as providing assistance to the business community, locals and visitors to Claremont.
This is a seven day a week position with hours spread between 6am and midnight, 7 days per week. Current shifts are 6am - 2.30pm, 8am - 4.30pm and 3.30pm - midnight and are spread evenly amongst the team on a rotating 8-week roster. Officers currently have 1 week in every 4 weeks off, in addition to other 2-day breaks between cycles. The Town provides all officers with a body-worn camera and on the job training.
Key responsibilities of the position include:
- Carrying out patrols and inspections** **for the purpose of enforcing the Town’s Local Laws and providing assistance to the public.
- Issuing cautions and infringement notices.
- Animal management including patrols of reserves and public places and impounding stray or nuisance animals.
- Liaising with police, event promoters and community groups.
- Assisting with traffic management when required.
- On occasion you may assist the Town’s Parking Officers with parking related duties.
You will be required when working nights to drive a Town vehicle, patrol the Town’s buildings and respond to after-hours requests or alarms. A driver’s licence, police and medical clearance are essential to this position.
