Fresh Start is a not-for-profit organisation concentrating on detoxing, developing a drug-free lifestyle and providing rehabilitation services. Their unique and comprehensive drug and alcohol treatment approach has helped over 14,000 people and their families out of the vicious cycle of addiction.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**

They are actively seeking a motivated and empathetic support worker to join their Northam Recovery Rehabilitation Centre full-time. You will play a crucial role in assisting individuals on their path to recovery, providing practical and emotional support. This role will be reporting to the Residential Rehabilitation Manager.

As a passionate, committed, and dynamic support worker, you will support clients within an evidence-based framework, providing a high standard of residential care for Fresh Start clients and assisting staff members at the Northam Recovery Programme.
- **The key responsibilities include**:_
- Provide direct support to residents, including personal care and emotional support.
- Monitor residents' physical and emotional well-being, recording any concerns and reporting them to the relevant clinician.
- Assist in the day-to-day management of the facility and follow the house rules as instructed.
- Collaborate and empower clients to make sound decisions and informed choices.
- Provide domestic duties such as purchase of food, meal preparation and cleaning when required.
- Support and provide a safe and healthy working environment that complies with requirements.
- Assist with the implementation of the rehab program and, upon request, deliver some elements of the program.
- Provide logistics support to ensure residents attend their scheduled appointments.
- Develop an effective and collaborative relationship with the staff, managers, residents and their families.
- Store client’s medications securely, and only release medicines by the doctor’s instructions.
- Assist Fresh Start Recovery Program medical and allied health staff by providing supervision and ongoing support for residents, including AOD interventions when required.
- Provide general administrative support to the Manager and other staff.
- Contribute to Social enterprise and community engagement activities as required.
- Handle and manage other ad-hoc or admin duties as required.

- **Have**:_
- Relevant educational qualifications and/or experience working in either AOD Recovery/Community Service Sector.
- An understanding and non-judgemental attitude towards people with drug use and mental health problems, including those from diverse cultural backgrounds and the Aboriginal community.
- Passionate about helping people with addiction.
- Transferable life/work skills along with a caring and compassionate approach.
- Exceptional interpersonal and effective communication skills.
- Strong computer literacy.
- Well-developed interpersonal communication skills, a committed team player, and the ability to continuously work independently as the role dictates.
- Willingness to support Fresh Start’s approach and programmes.
- Respect for confidentiality.
- Driver’s License.
- First-aid Certificate.
