We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate Designer and Place Strategist to contribute and support our senior team on our diverse place shaping projects from complex place, mobility, economic, resilience strategies through to innovative design of master plans, redevelopments, new communities, public domain and activations. We are looking for someone with the ability to produce high quality graphical outputs (plans, presentations, reports) who brings enthusiasm and motivation to learn, innovate and develop their skills.

As the successful person, you will:

- Contribute to place-led urban design related and multi-disciplinary projects covering project visioning, development strategy, master planning and detailed design.
- Assist in developing design led options/ solutions to achieve project objectives.
- Undertake research and obtain insights, conclusions, and recommendations from complex data and incorporate into strategies and projects across planning, place, and design disciplines.
- Produce high quality and compelling communication of analysis, ideas and proposals through 2D and 3D graphics, digital and sketch graphics, written reports and presentations.
- Maintain a good understanding of urban design and placemaking techniques and principles and contribute to the exchange of information across the business.
- Contribute to the advancement of the team’s master planning/urban design/ place capability, philosophy, and standards of presentation.
- Assist with development of promotional material.
- Assist with knowledge transfer through project participation as well as in-house professional development initiatives.

You will bring up to 6 years’ experience as an Urban Designer, or similar position; demonstrate a passion for creating great places and sustainable communities and have the ability to contribute effectively to urban design related and multi-disciplinary projects covering project visioning, development strategy, master planning and detailed design.

In addition, you will demonstrate the following experience and competencies:

- An understanding of placemaking principles and how a place-led planning and design approach can achieve optimal outcomes.
- An understanding of design, place and planning issues and requirements for designing at different scales and contexts.
- Be self-motivated and effective in your time management skills including the ability to prioritise workloads and perform tasks efficiently.
- Accuracy, attention to detail and high levels of presentation.
- The ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Strong capacity for teamwork and interpersonal/ social skills.
- High standards of professional and personal ethics.
- Proactive networking within industry groups, government, and other agencies.
- Advanced use of general software (Windows/ Office/ Teams/ Zoom etc) and desktop publishing software (Adobe Professional suite) is required.
- Advanced use of design software is desirable (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Lumion or similar).

Qualifications:

- Bachelors Degree in Urban Design, Urban Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or other related built environment/ social sciences fields (essential).
- Postgraduate qualification in Urban Design (desirable).
