**About the role**

City of Parramatta has an exciting opportunity to become part of a Civil Design Team working on a diverse range of project scales and types. This is a 35 hour per week full time position for a fixed term up to 3 years. The team is creative and fast paced, responsible for the design and documentation of a range of civil infrastructure assets.

**As the Engineering Design Assistant, you will**:

- Provide detail drafting assistance to team members on design projects including Civil, Drainage and Landscape components as required.
- Undertake and prepare designs for Traffic Improvement projects including Roundabouts, Pedestrian Refuges, Speed Humps and Chicanes adhering to all the relevant Standards, specifications and Guidelines.
- Provide sound technical advice and assistance on engineering and other technical matters to internal and external customers.
- Ensure design output complies with legal statues and relevant standards including but not limited to RMS Specifications, AustRoad Guidelines, NSW Local Government Act and NSW Roads Act.
- Work to agreed budget, programs and timeframes.
- Assist in the investigation and preparation of civil design, and other design as applicable.

**About You**

The Engineering Design Assistant position would suit an enthusiastic person who has a great interest in designing and documenting primarily road infrastructure projects for construction.

**Qualifications**
- Class C Drivers Licence
- Certificate or Diploma in Civil Engineering or related field, and / or knowledge and skills acquired through work experience of at least 5 years.

**Skills**
- Previous experience using Civil Engineering Design Software such as; Autodesk Civil 3D, (road and intersection design), Auto Turn (vehicle movement check), AutoCad (Drafting) (Advanced), ParkCad (car park design), Civil Site Design (road design package (Basic)).
- Superior understanding of civil and landscape construction techniques and ability to interpret engineering and technical designs.
- Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
