Victim Liaison Officer (VLO)

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Team Member - ACT Policing - Victim Liaison Officer, Victims of Crime Team.

As Victim Liaison Officer (VLO), you will be part of a dynamic team supporting victims through the judicial process and supporting members in meeting their obligations to victims of crime. We are looking for people who have excellent telephone communications skills, enjoying working with people, problem solving, and have an eye for detail.

You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

**Principal duties of the role include**:
Support members in meeting their obligations to victims of crime;
Provide a supplementary contact point for victims of crime;
Provide supplementary support to victims of crime;
Promote initiatives aimed at developing best practice models to support victims of crime;
Provide policy advice about issues that affect victims of crime;
Maintain client records;
Comply with the Victims Charters of Rights and relevant protocols as to the treatment of victims of crime;
Interact with other agencies as required; and
Court attendance.
Essential Requirements
A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one;
Has contemporary knowledge and experience relevant to the role;
Working with Vulnerable People accreditation or the ability to obtain one;
Knowledge of, or an ability to learn the criminal investigative process;
Proven ability to work autonomously and make critical decisions; and
Ability to develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships.
Desirable Requirements

The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:
Tertiary qualifications in relevant field; and
Relevant qualification or extensive experience and knowledge in area of expertise.
Additional Information

This role is located in Canberra and applicants are expected to be based in Canberra. External members if successful will need to re-locate to Canberra at their own expense.
