Deakin Residential Services Pty Ltd (**DRS**) is a wholly owned not-for-profit subsidiary of Deakin University (**Deakin**), established by Deakin University in August 2010 to manage Deakin’s on-campus accommodation and residential student experience.

DRS is cutting-edge student accommodation in Victoria, innovating student accommodation across four campuses: Melbourne Burwood, Geelong Waurn Ponds, Geelong Waterfront, and Warrnambool

The primary purpose of the Maintenance Assistant is to assist the Maintenance Coordinator to provide maintenance services across all student residence facilities at the Burwood Campus. The position will proactively identify maintenance issues and rectify or initiate remedial action following through to completion, ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with the OH&S Act, codes and Australian Standards, minimising waste of materials and time

**As a Maintenance Assistant, you will**:

- Ensure all service records, building equipment inventories and equipment histories are maintained.
- Improve convenience and accessibility by providing a range of service options
- Consult with available sources to gather relevant information and seek the expertise and advice of other people as appropriate
- Deliver effective and efficient outcomes and outputs against team and operational work plans
- Take personal responsibility and show initiative to meeting goals and objectives contributing to an inclusive team environment

***To be successful, you’ll have**:

- Completion of a Diploma level qualifications with relevant work experience or a certificate level qualification with post
- certificate relevant work experience
- Completion of a Post-Trades Certificate or Advanced Certificate and extensive relevant experience and on the job training; or
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
- Extensive experience of building maintenance in a customer focused environment
- Relevant building maintenance and construction knowledge
