In this role, you’ll work with the Transmission & Electrification team as an Electrical Technician/Drafter. As the energy sector continues to transition within Australia and globally, WSP’s Energy business is dedicated to supporting that transition.
WSP’s Transmission & Electrification team is helping a diverse range of clients tackle the energy transition with a Future Ready approach. Our team assists clients from a broad range of sectors from Energy, Transmission & Distribution, Transportation, Property & Buildings, Defence and Mining. This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic team who will support your growth and development.
We are seeking a new team member at either an intermediate or senior level. The role can be based anywhere in our Australian offices, however most staff are based in either Sydney/Brisbane/Melbourne or Adelaide.
**Energy**
Our Energy team helps clients maintain secure and reliable power supplies, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and deliver future energy schemes to help our cities transition to a more sustainable world. Our team has expertise in solar, wind, hydropower, thermal energy, waste-to-energy and bioenergy, battery storage, network distribution and systems and automation.
**What you’ll do**:
- Prepares engineering drawing deliverables from sketches, calculations and/or specifications.
- Assisting the electrical design team with the development of designs.
- Work collaboratively with other design disciplines to ensure the integration of the overall design.
- Set up and manage projects throughout the life of the project.
- Analyses client requirements for design drafting criteria to ensure that all appropriate specifications are included in the design requirements.
- Implements quality control process to ensure that all drawings and documents meet the project requirements, and that the documentation is kept up to date.
**About you**:
- Relevant qualifications in Electrical Engineering or similar.
- With at least 3 years working experience.
- High level drafting & detailing skills.
- High level use and understanding of 2D AutoCAD software and how it applies.
- High level ability to develop electrical layouts, general arrangements, and schematic drawings.
- 3D & Revit / BIM experience highly regarded but not necessary.
- Microstation experience is advantageous.
- Experience in transmission secondary design is advantageous.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Australian citizen or permanent resident preferred due to work with on Defence projects.
