**Looking for a Live-in Horse Farm caretaker/ Farm hand/ Horse rider/ Dog walker**at Mt Nathan, Queensland, Australia - to work full time. The position involves maintaining a small acreage property caring for the owner’s small herd of horses together with caring for potential agistee’s horses at our second property 20 mins away. Must be a highly competent, experienced horse rider and dog lover able to handle extra-large guard dogs. This position would suit someone who would enjoy living on the premises in a brand new, fully furnished studio apartment available at a reduced rate of $300 weekly (half the market rental price of $600 to accommodate the caretaker). The one-bedroom studio is privately situated within the barn complex, a comfortable distance from the house. At our second property, 20 minutes away, complimentary self-care horse agistment is available for the successful applicant. No other pets allowed. **RESIDENT VISAS ONLY**

Paid duties in general include:

- Pasture management - slashing, whipper snipping, seeding, weed and pest control, paddock & lawn maintenance, tree trimming and pruning.
- Horse husbandry - provide daily care of horses including feed and water, rugging, sunscreen, cleaning feet, grooming, careful monitoring of horse health with injury recognition and general horse care.
- Exercising 2 horses on trails and in arena periodically
- Ordering horse feed and supplements and looking after tack
- Paying attention to detail in maintaining high levels of horse care
- Maintenance on farm infrastructure - cleaning and maintenance of barn, stables, arena, water systems, machinery and other equipment.
- Use ride on mower, side by side (gator), brush cutter etc
- Ensuring the general wellbeing of horses is high, including identifying where horses may be injured or require medical attention
- Walking and feeding dogs
- Job will also involve driving to second property 20 minutes away to do the above horse care/ exercise

Position details:

- Require 5 days a week (76 hours fortnightly) spread over morning shift potentially starting by latest 6.30 am and/or afternoon shift ending around 5.30 pm, sometimes with time off in the middle of the day. Needs to be flexible with hours within reason.
- Weekend days required periodically
- Live-in only, paying $300 rent weekly (half the market rental price of $600)
- Remuneration is above the Award Pay Guide and offered according to level of experience

About You:

- Have extensive knowledge of and experience in general horse care and husbandry
- Demonstrated high level riding ability with a lot of experience
- Experience in assessing a horse’s level of handling and temperament
- Attention to detail and a high standard of care
- Experience with pasture management preferred
- Be physically fit and able to cope with the physical demands of the role
- Confidence with handling large, guard dogs with initial assistance/ training from owner and dog trainer if required
- Current driver’s license required
- Must have own car
- Looking for a person with long term commitment only
- Strictly no pets except with the exception of free horse agistment on second property

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38 per week
