
Disability Support Worker

Honour Care is seeking **male disability support workers** to join our team in supporting **Jason**, an **independent male client with autism and misophonia**, based in **Manly West, QLD**.
This is a casual position with regular ongoing shifts, including **sleepover shifts**. Jason is an independent client with established routines, and enjoys activities in a calm and supportive environment. We are building a reliable care team to maintain his current stability and quality of life.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Support Jason with daily routines and activities, respecting his independence
- Monitor and support emotional well-being, with awareness of **misophonia triggers**
- Support community access and recreational activities
- Assist with meal preparation and light household tasks
- Provide companionship and engage in positive interactions
- Implement and follow behaviour support strategies as required
- Assist with simple tasks such as locking stretch belt, helping with headphones
- Maintain accurate shift notes and complete **handover of meals eaten each shift**
- Communicate effectively with the team and Jason’s family
**What We Are Looking For**:
- Male disability support worker (as per client request)
- **Minimum 6 months experience in disability support** — experience with autism highly regarded
- Ability and willingness to complete **sleepover shifts**
- Experience or understanding of working with **independent clients** and promoting autonomy
- Calm, patient, and empathetic nature
- High level of awareness and sensitivity to **sound sensitivities (misophonia)**
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Commitment to maintaining professional boundaries and client dignity
**Mandatory Requirements**:
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
- Valid Driver’s Licence and reliable vehicle
- Proof of working rights in Australia

Pay: $39.00 - $85.00 per hour
