**Director, Indigenous Engagement**:
- Develop and deliver information and research services to support engagement with First National communities.

The Library is seeking to fill the role of Director, Indigenous Engagement (Executive Level 2) within the Engagement Branch. This role is a leadership position within the National Library and is a member of the leadership team for the Branch.
The Director, Indigenous Engagement is responsible for leading the development and delivery of a sustainable program of Indigenous Collection and Engagement activities. These functional responsibilities include having people, program and stakeholder management responsibilities.
The Director, Indigenous Engagement will have high level leadership capability for leading and managing the operations of the team. Responsibilities include developing, coaching, performance management, change management, conflict resolution and the identification of development needs.
The Director, Indigenous Engagement role contributes to policy development at a strategic level and provides strategic direction for the Section with accountabilities relevant to developing business plans, complex and/or sensitive work programs for the Library that have strategic, political and/or operational significance and monitoring workflow and performance. This will include:
- Developing and delivering Information and Research services to support engagement with First Nations communities.
- Overseeing the development of a First Australians Collecting Strategy, Cultural and Intellectual Property Protocols and culturally appropriate description and management.
- Improving the cultural awareness of National Library of Australia staff through training and seminars.
- Providing content for the First Nations portal.
- Appraising trends and advising on the development of policies, plans and strategies to ensure the provision of excellent reader services.
The Director, Indigenous Engagement develops and manages key strategic relationships within and external to the National Library of Australia promoting the Library’s strategic objectives.
The Director, Indigenous Engagement will promote a healthy and safe workplace environment, and model ethical behaviour in accordance with the APS Code of Conduct and APS Values.
You must have the ability to develop and deliver Indigenous Engagement activities including a focus on cultural awareness with Library staff and an Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property protocol.
You must also be able to build Indigenous expertise and knowledge within the Library to support broader engagement with First Nations peoples and to enhance content for the First Nations portal.
