About the Role

Mackellar is the proud contract mining partner at Bravus’ Carmichael Coal Mine in the Galilee Basin, operating a large scale open-cut operation with a focus on safety, productivity and team culture.

We are currently seeking a motivated Production Leading Hand to join our high-performing team at Carmichael. This role is ideal for a current production operator looking to take the next step in their mining career or a proven Leading Hand ready for a new challenge at a large-scale operation.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the Production Supervisor with day-to-day crew coordination and operational tasks
- Lead by example in promoting a strong safety-first culture
- Conduct pre-starts and act as the initial point of contact for the production crew
- Provide mentoring and guidance to operators, ensuring safe and efficient operation of mining equipment
- Monitor compliance with operational targets, dig plans and haulage strategies
- Communicate effectively with Dispatch, Maintenance, and Technical Services teams

About You
- Previous experience as a Leading Hand or experienced Operator in a mining production environment
- Strong understanding of open-cut mining operations and equipment
- Positive leadership style with excellent communication and crew engagement skills
- Competent in operating various production equipment
