About the role
- The County Court Reference Librarian reports to Manager Library Reference Services.
- Provide reference and research services to library users by personally responding to service requests across the various service points of the library and updating the Library Request Management System (RMS).
- Use knowledge to resolve local operational service problems and provide guidance to others.
- Prepare and publish library current awareness, judgments, legal updates and web content in an accurate and timely manner.
- Index and catalogue materials onto the Library Management System (LMS) and undertake end-processing of hard copy collection items.
- Deliver legal research and digital literacy education and training to library users.
- Provide advice and guidance to the Director and integrated library team and service partners in aligning services with user needs and expectations.
- Contribute to the successful operation of the library service by providing a positive customer experience for all users of the library service and assisting colleagues and managers in continuous improvement initiatives to meet organisational objectives.
- Provide professional advice on behalf of the library on external and internal committees as appropriate.
- Communicate professional advice to colleagues in client organisations to ensure timely resolution of issues.
- Actively contribute to the library team and a demonstrated commitment to the successful implementation and ongoing development of the Law Library of Victoria.
About you
- Applied expertise in online research databases, MS Office, library management systems and content management systems.
- Demonstrated interest in and awareness of emerging trends and developments in the library sector, publishing industry and digital communications tools and strategies.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering engagement and educational programs, preferably within a legal environment.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Librarianship or a related discipline, and eligibility for Associate (professional) membership of the Australian Library Information Association are desirable.
