**About us**

**The Swan Valley Adventure Centre** (SVAC) is one the one of the best outdoor educational and recreational centres in WA. It is located within the Perth metropolitan area, on a unique 89 acres of stunning Swan Valley wilderness. Swan Valley Adventure Centre has 6 camp houses accommodating up to 294 guests. The adventure centre features over 20 outdoor activities promoting educational outcomes, teamwork and enjoyment for all. All activities are linked to the Australian curriculum. We use experiential learning to develop the students in a variety of outcome-based activity programmes, such as leadership, problem solving, etc.

**About the role**

We have an opportunity for an **Activity Manager** to manage and lead our team of competent outdoor instructors and to create a professional and safe environment in which to deliver all Swan Valley Adventure Centre activities. The leader of the Activity team will oversee staff development and achieve or even exceed instruction and service quality targets. This is a full-time permanent position.

The Activity Manager will develop and implement outdoor activity programmes and products that contribute to the positioning of Swan Valley Adventure Centre as out one of the best outdoor educational and recreational centres in WA. They will act as one of the Workplace Health and Safety champions in the centre with direct contribution to the development and implementation of the WHS strategy. Our Activity Manager will be business savvy, able to manage departmental budgets and eager to contribute to the development and implementation of SVAC strategic and business plans. Enthusiastic and outgoing, they will focus on building positive relationship with guests and providing excellent guest experience. They will make sure that the staff are rostered adequately and prepared for success before every session. The Activity Manager will ensure that the equipment is continuously checked and maintained well.
- A minimum of Cert IV in Outdoor recreation, Outdoor Leadership, or Sport, Recreation and Event management
- Completion of physical education or sports related courses
- Nationally recognised qualifications in roping, canoeing and kayaking
- One higher level instructor qualification, such as ACIA guide or instructor, Australian Canoeing white water instructor
- A full clean driving license (preferable Heavy Vehicle/Light Rigid License)
- Strong planning, organisational and business management skills
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role in outdoor education, leadership and/or recreation
- A commitment to deliver exceptional customer service
- The ability to empathise and support individuals in situations which are physically and emotionally demanding
- Enthusiasm for the outdoor environment
- The ability to assess a situation rapidly and act decisively under pressure
- Excellent leadership, group management and communication skills
- Good stamina and technical skills in a range of outdoor activities
- Able to work evenings and weekends when required

In addition to this, our Activity Manager must hold a current **Working with Children Check**, a valid **National Police Certificate** and a current **First Aid Certificate**.
