Swan Christian College is seeking an enthusiastic and student-focused Careers and Pathways Adviser to guide and support our students as they make informed decisions about their future pathways.

Working closely with the Head of Academic Studies, you will play a vital role in helping students explore career opportunities, understand tertiary selection processes and transition successfully from school to further study or the workforce.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting impact by equipping students with knowledge and skills they need to pursue their God-given purpose.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide personalised career counselling and guidance to students and families on pathways, course selection, and applications (including TISC).
  • Plan and deliver career events, tertiary information sessions, and industry engagement in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Administer and interpret the Morrisby Career Profile, providing tailored feedback and advice to students.
  • Develop and implement a careers education program (in partnership with the Head of Academic Studies) that supports job search skills, apprenticeships, and traineeships.
  • Maintain up-to-date career resources and liaise with the Dean of Years 10–12 to coordinate guest speaker sessions with universities, industry, and alumni.
  • Stay informed on WACE, university, and TAFE requirements; contribute to school communications; and perform other duties in line with College policy and direction from the Line Manager.

Selection Criteria:

Essential:

  • A Demonstrated personal commitment to Jesus Christ and active involvement in a Christian church, aligned with the Association's Statement of Faith and lifestyle expectations.
  • Acceptance of and alignment with the Association's Foundational Statements of Belief and Educational Objectives.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain positive relationships with families, SCEA Head Office staff, and the College community.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational, and time management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, initiative, and capacity to make informed decisions under pressure.
  • Holds a current Working with Children Card and a valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check

Desirable:

  • Demonstrated experience in Career education, tertiary guidance/student support within a school/tertiary setting.
  • Sound understanding of WACE, university and VET pathways.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and presentation skills.
