**The Role**
The Business Improvement team is seeking an APS 5 officer who are experienced in assisting with engaging across the Division and with partner agencies to assist to identify, develop and implement policy improvements at the APS 5 leadership level.

The successful applicant will assist in a range of exciting work to deliver improvements to the program particularly for participating Pacific Island and Timorese workers, and employers, including assisting with a range of Pilots and strategic projects, a cultural competency framework and materials, standard operating procedures and a knowledge base, and a feedback framework.

Responsibilities of the APS Level 5 may include:

- Assist in undertaking research and analysis work and assist in designing, developing and implementing policy responses to improve the program.
- With supervision, contribute to the development of submissions, briefs and reports and provide advice on PALM scheme issues and improvements.
- Support and assist liaison with partner agencies and other stakeholders including employers, unions, community organisations and sending country representatives to inform program improvements.
- Assist to establish and update standard operating procedures and take a lead in ongoing management of the SOPs. Assist to design and develop a knowledge base and take a lead role on maintaining the database and supporting users.
- Support and assist in engaging with DFAT and relevant stakeholders on development of a cultural capability framework and materials and support the transition to DEWR. Support and contribute to engagement with stakeholders and relevant experts including Pacifica and Timorese community representatives to undertake ongoing review and updates of cultural competence requirements and materials.
- Manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.

**Skills and Capabilities**
We are seeking individuals with the following skills and capabilities:

- Ability to identify and analyse problems, issues, and program feedback and consider options and recommends or propose appropriate solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to assist in delivery of complex projects and achievement of deliverables in line with agreed timelines.
- Draws on skills and/or experience to make accurate and timely decisions and overcome challenges. Uses initiative.
- Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly in written and verbal form with a diverse range of people. Must have excellent attention to detail.
- Experience in creating and maintaining accurate records using information management systems.
- May be required to undertake work travel at times.

**The Opportunity**
This position is available to Ongoing Department of Employment and Workplace Relations and APS employees as a temporary transfer at level or a temporary performance (Acting) opportunity for a period of 6 months.
