Superstar Support Worker

**About the role**:
Well, this is exciting.

Three Clients in the Brisbane Northside region have contacted QSSS for Supports - meaning we need some pretty special Support Workers to support one, two or three of these awesome individuals. Who are they? Well, we can’t tell you their names but we can tell you all about who they are and what makes them tick.

We have a chatty and funny middle aged lady who loves cooking and exploring new relationships and interests. She loves the café life and going out to breakfast and meeting new people. This can result in some anxiety and expressing that anxiety verbally and to some degree physicallybut we all have our challenging days, right?but overall a lovely, personable and remarkable person. She has a Positive Behavioural Support Plan which gives some really cool tips on how to appropriately communicate with her given her moderate intellectual impairment and ASDbut with these tips and with support from us and the BSP we know that this lady will really soar in life in this primarily Community Access role - and you will be a big part in that. She is currently requiring 20hr/wk supports.

Then we have an awesome young father who loves spending time with his adolescent daughter which he needs your help with. This gentleman requires a female Support Worker who shows patience and understanding given his challenges in communication. He requires support in Community Access every Thursday for 3hrs and every other Saturday and Sunday for 4 hrs. He loves going driving with his daughter but needs assistance from you with that and therefore you need to have a drivers license and a reliable car with full comprehensive insurance. He is a really cool guy who does have an intellectual disability and an Acquired Brain Injury which can sometimes make his ability to communicate appropriately challenging for him but with the right Support Worker with the right approach I’m sure you’ll have a lot of fun. He is a smoker though so please keep this in mind.

Lastly we have a young man in a SIL home who also needs community access support. He is an avid sailor, loves walking in the bush, the city, anywhere the wind takes him. Unfortunately, this can leave people wondering where he is and playing a bit of hide and seek in the community but that adds to the fun of it allright? He is very quiet, very well-mannered and is supported by all of his family. He has a job at the local café on Wednesdays looking after the banking which he will need your help with. Your role with this gentleman is to assist him with developing the day to day life skills to enable him to live independently. His ASD Level 2 and deficiencies in cognitive ability makes his ability to understand the world around him challenging but that is where you can help. He does have a BSP who can teach you on how best to positively interact with this young gentleman as well as the support of our awesome team. He receives supports on Wednesday and Sunday evenings but this may increase.

Your key responsibilities & accountabilities:

- To deliver high quality support to our Clients in the capacity they require, the exact way they would like it delivered
- Communicate effectively and collaborate for our Clients needs with our Clients, team & Support Specialist
- Understand, follow instructions, and be responsive to our Client’s needs
- Provide support to our Clients as required
- Have good rapport building skills and a gentle, encouraging manner
- Be reliable and flexible to fill shifts when required
- Have an interest in building a respectful relationship with our Clients
- To support our Clients to achieve their NDIS Goals

To be successful you must:

- Resonate with the role description above
- Have a genuine desire to positively change people's lives
- Have evidence of eligibility and right to work in Australia
- Hold or be willing to obtain NDIS worker screening or yellow card
- Hold or be willing to obtain a blue card

**Job Type**: Casual

**Salary**: $30.00 - $39.99 per hour

Expected hours: 2 - 20 per week

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability

Supplemental pay types:
