**About Microbiology Department**:
Microbiology Department at Austin Health Pathology utilises state of the art automation and technologies as well conventional manual methodology to generate clinically valuable information for diagnosis and treatment of infections. Austin Pathology provides diagnostic pathology services to both metropolitan and regional health networks.

**About the role:
This position requires a suitably qualified applicant with relevant experience in a diagnostic microbiology laboratory to work full-time on a permanent basis.

**Duties will include:
Specimen processing including using BD Kiestra automation and manual methods

Urine microscopy using Atellica urine analysis system

Set up for organism identification and antimicrobial susceptibility tests using MALDI-ToF and Vitek2 automated systems

Molecular detection of faecal and other pathogens using BD Max and GeneXpert PCR platforms

**About you:
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to support our expanding team. Ideally, you’ll have:
Relevant qualification and demonstrable Microbiology knowledge.

Experience working in a diagnostic Microbiology laboratory including specimen setup/processing

Good communication skills and ability to work both independently and in a team.

Demonstrable time management skills with an ability to prioritise and cope with stressful situations, and changing work environment.

Availability to work rotating shifts, through day and afternoon-evening shifts; weekdays, weekends, and public holiday. Applicants should also be available to work overnight shift if required.
