Friends with Dignity (FwD) Australia is a collaborative National Not for Profit focused on improving the quality of life of any Adult and Child impacted by Domestic Violence through the provision of financial and tangible resources, programs and scholarships and enhancing the personal safety of individuals (Our Mission Statement).

Our vision is to ease the impact of Domestic Violence on individuals and the community regardless of race, ethnicity, gender or sexuality. FwD is a nationally recognised registered NFP who proudly supports victims of domestic violence to re-build their lives with purpose, dignity and hope. FwD is a volunteer-based charity providing programs to assist survivors of domestic violence in collaboration with refuge and crisis centres.

FwD is governed by its own Board, who are progressive, professional and diverse currently comprising 1 x Founder / Executive Director, 2 x Founder appointed Executive Directors and 1 Non executive director and is seeking to appoint a further three (3) independent Non-Executive Directors to join its Board.

To be successful for a placement, we are seeking those who are passionate and dedicated in making a difference to those affected and impacted by Domestic Violence. You will also demonstrate strong advocacy and good governance. You will be passionate about raising awareness of domestic violence and to advocate for and provide support to those who have been affected from domestic violence.

Specific experience across (sales), marketing and PR, corporate governance, risk management, (health services) will be favourably looked upon.
- Have an altruistic approach to their Board duties and increasing awareness of FWD
- Commercial and Senior leadership experience
- Tertiary qualifications in their field of expertise
- Demonstrated teamwork
- Excellent communication skills will enable successful applicants to build strong relationships across the existing board the volunteer organisation
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, integrity and sound judgement

As a Director, you will be expected to:

- Understand your legal duties and responsibilities under the Corporations Act, 2001
- Be accountable for your performance and conduct as a member of the Board
- Actively support the strategic direction and priorities of the Founder and FWD generally

Board members are not remunerated, however reimbursed for expenses such as flights and accommodation to an agreed and suitable location (Gold Coast) for quarterly Board meetings etc. as per the policy and procedure.
