Major Responsibilities

**Compliance**:
Manage implementation of policy and process and compliance to meet standards with strict adherence to legislative requirements including all necessary reporting
Development, promotion and sustainment of Health, Safety & Environmental Management system to meet company and legislative requirements
Lead site EHS meetings and Audits (internal & external agencies) as management representative

**Leadership**:
Provide leadership and expertise on all EH&S matters at all levels across the business.
Promote incorporation of EH&S issues into business planning, working closely with the Senior Leadership team to avoid, mitigate or reduce the potential impact of risk to site operations
Lead site EHS committee meetings (Fire, First Aid, Environmental, Dangerous Goods)
Represent the Site on Global EHS team to align on best practices and support global EHS programs and benchmarking
Work with the Global EH&S Team to drive best practice and efficiencies benchmarking
Lead the development and deployment of site processes and procedures for emergency response and crisis management including business continuity plans
Oversee general health & wellness programs

**Health and Safety**:
Deploy DBS tools to monitor and analyse safety data and recommend strategies to drive improvement including all accident and incidences to ensure that they are fully investigated and that appropriate actions are implemented to prevent or reduce risk of reoccurrence
Maintain standard work and drive a comprehensive audit and risk assessment program, preparing policies and procedures for a safe working environment as required
Conduct internal training and induction programs on health and safety issues and risks
Compile statistical information for monthly reporting and analysis of data

Required Skills/Experience
A formal qualification in Health and Safety is essential
Minimum 8 years management in medical and/or manufacturing industries
Experience of chemical hazard management and knowledge of relevant regulatory standards
Proven capability in managing HSE to certification standards
Demonstrated ability to manage internal and external stakeholders,
An ability to plan, implement and sustain key processes
Knowledge of EHS frameworks, legislation, & regulations and experience implementing through policies & procedures successfully in a business.
Demonstrated familiarly in working cross functionally with strong business partnering skills that build credibility and engagement through excellent communication.
Experience in working with Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans

Competencies
Strong organisational and managerial skills - able to prioritise conflicting requirements.
Strong training and presentation skills.
An ability to influence key stakeholders
Being attentive to detail and thorough.
Able to drive and manage change with strong influencing skills.

**Highly Desirable**:
Experience in implementing and maintaining 3rd party certifications such as OHSAS 18001 and 45001
Experience and training in root cause methodologies such as 5-Why, Fishbone, etc
Experience in formal continuous improvement processes such as Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma

Education
Tertiary qualification (Bachelor level) in Science, Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
Environmental qualification highly desirable
