**About the role**

The Payroll Manager is responsible for leading and managing the payroll function, developing strategic payroll solutions, ensuring regulatory compliance, and meeting the evolving needs of the business and HCF. Reporting to the Head of Employee Experience, the role involves collaborating with senior leadership and stakeholders in Finance, Risk, Compliance, IT, and external audit organizations. The manager will lead a team of payroll practitioners and collaborate with other departments, manage compliance requirements, act as the key contact for auditors, and play a crucial role in HRIS transformation for P&C.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Develop the capability of the payroll team to ensure development and growth for individuals as well as functional and cross training
- Lead and manage projects to improve payroll employee experience and propose changes as per regulatory changes.
- Payroll design and change/transition management to support P&C andtransitioning to a future HRIS
- Work closely within P&C to align processes and consistency of delivery of P&C strategy and services.
- As a member of the P&C Leadership team, proactively participate in the success of the Division through thought leadership, partnering, openness and transparency and always living the HCF Value.
- Ensure all payroll processing is completed in an accurate and timely manner, and compliant with HCF policies, industrial instruments and all relevant legislation.
- Ensure delivery of month end and EOY close for payroll and annual reconciliation for audit purpose
- Manage and meet internal and external payroll audits (and broader interaction with P&C operations and systems).
- Work closely with Finance on reconciliation, codes and reporting are accurate and continuous monitoring and engagement to mitigate risks.
- Ensure tax and superannuation compliance requirements are met for the group.
- Build and maintain strong working relationship with all stakeholders and work collaboratively with Finance, P&C and IT counterparts to ensure their support for payroll.
- payroll strategy, inclusive of the introduction and embedding of a new HRIS, to align payroll delivery and support the needs of the business agenda.
- End-to-end process evaluation to identify opportunities for process improvement and risk mitigation.

**About you**

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following qualifications, experience and skills:

- 12+ years' experience in payroll, including 5+ years in a leadership role
- Proficiency in interpreting legislation and industrial instruments
- Expertise in managing payroll tax, statutory obligations, award interpretation, redundancies, terminations, and time and attendance
- Deep knowledge of payroll tax, superannuation, and compliance with ATO requirements
- Experience working with internal and external audit teams to ensure compliance
- Extensive experience in leading technically driven teams
- Familiarity with project management leading practices
- Experience in leading payroll system implementations and HRIS transformation
- Strategic evaluation skills for making payroll-related solutions in a complex corporate environment
- Ability to balance strategic and operational delivery
- Proven experience in coaching and developing teams
- Experience in payroll set-up and M&A activity
