**The Position**:
The Governance Officer supports the functions of the Company Secretary. Together this governance team plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient functioning and legal compliance of the organisation and ensures the smooth operation of the Board and its Committees, and compliance with governance legislation.
The Governance Officer provides high level administrative support to the Board of Directors, Committees, State Council members, Executive and CEO by ensuring quality and timely distribution of Board and Committee agendas and papers.
The role will also be responsible for organisation of Board and Committee meetings.
**The Person**:
- High attention to detail and experience in providing a broad range of support to Executive and Board roles.
- Diplomacy and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information
- Highly developed interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships at a senior level.
- Excellent written skills for the creation of board minutes, reports, correspondence and other material as required.
- Experience managing competing priorities and to deliver high quality outcomes within agreed timeframes.
- Working knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory environment for areas of business responsibility including a working understanding of the Corporations Act and Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission Act 2012 as those relate to the company secretarial function.
- A proven ability to work with mínimal supervision or direction, to show initiative and to anticipate and meet the needs of the Chair, Board Members and CEO in relation to governance processes.
- Accuracy and attention to detail in all matters
- Proficiency in using technology including digital platforms for communication and record-keeping.
