**About the role**:
The Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I&E) team works collaboratively with businesses, researchers, entrepreneurs and investors to facilitate connections, provide advice and position South Australia as a destination for innovation and entrepreneurship.

The Business Innovation Officer works with entrepreneurs, early-stage companies, and other participants in the innovation ecosystem to develop and implement policies and programs that are strategic priorities for the Department of State Development. We are focused on growing the sector to achieve impact through economic, social and environmental outcomes. The successful applicant will work closely across our teams to manage procedures, reporting, and contract management to ensure successful program design and delivery.

**Key Competencies**:

- Demonstrated understanding of the South Australian innovation ecosystem and start-up and scale-up business issues that impact on their growth, sustainability and scalability in South Australia.
- Experience in working with a broad range of stakeholders and customers and building trusted networks to drive organisational outcomes and goals.
- Demonstrated capabilities in business and market analysis with experience with providing strategic analysis, business assessment and risk management analysis.
- Ability to work independently and think strategically, conceptually and creatively and analyse and resolve complex business problems, at both strategic and operational level.
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively both verbally and in writing with people at all levels including proven ability to negotiate with clients in a tactful, sensitive and diplomatic manner.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage competing tasks, and high volumes of work effectively. Including working to deadlines and delivering quality work products.

**Remuneration**:
Competitive salary ($98,479 min - $104,165 max pa) plus superannuation

**Qualifications**:

- **Essential**: Nil
- **Desirable**: Tertiary qualifications in a discipline relevant to the position.

**Special Conditions**:

- The role will be offered full-time (1.0 FTE), ongoing.
- Satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check (NPC) required prior to employment.
