**The Role**
Reporting to the Director, Strategy and Planning, the Assistant Director, Digital Engagement will lead the Digital Engagement function and staff within the Digital Solutions Division’s Strategy and Planning Team.
The Digital Engagement lead will be at the forefront of digital change at DEWR. They will work directly with our executive and IT experts to ensure the digital change we deliver achieves government outcomes and delivers accessible supportive services for the community.
You will manage the front door of all incoming requests for work, both from internal DEWR stakeholders and from interagency stakeholders. This includes:
- managing the Budget and MYEFO processes for DSD, monitoring incoming New Policy Proposals (NPPs) and external costing requests.
- working with policy teams and technical experts, including designers and Lead Delivery Managers.
- coordinating designs, costings and costing justifications, including overseeing assuring the costings.
- managing DEWR’s input to the Digital Transformation Agency processes throughout the year.
- triaging, assess and recommend decisions regarding interagency requests for work outside of the budget processes.
- working with teams and executives across DEWR and partner agencies to prioritise incoming work and create a multiyear program of work for DSD.
- improving and embedding governance and processes that support the delivery of DSD’s outcomes.
- work across the agency to support policy and business teams to engage with DSD to successfully deliver work.
You will work independently under broad direction to deliver agreed objectives and outcomes. You will be comfortable working with change in a fast-paced environment as you manage competing priorities and harness opportunities for continuous improvement. You will identify barriers and blockers to your team’s success, and you will manage and report on these. You will work closely with the team and broader division to build a positive and supportive culture.
The successful applicant will receive the necessary training, mentoring, and guidance to perform the key responsibilities of the role and to advance their careers in the Australian Public Service (APS).
**Skills and Capabilities**
We are seeking individuals with the following skills and capabilities:
- Experience in leading teams to successfully manage and coordinate a pipeline of incoming work.
- Experience in actively identifying and addressing risks and issues that are, or may, impede progress of New Policy Proposals and interagency work requests.
- Experience tracking and prioritising a program of work.
- Experience establishing, improving and managing governance processes.
- Experience managing complex and sensitive situations.
- Ability to represent the division in a positive and constructive way.
- Ability to build productive relationships with staff at all levels.
- The ability to communicate with influence in writing, in person and via Video Conferencing.
- Ability to mentor/coach less experienced staff to support their career development and succession planning.
**The Opportunity**
This position is available to Ongoing APS employees as a temporary transfer at level and/or a temporary performance (Acting) opportunity for a period of 3 months.
