The Portfolio Manager is responsible for the overall integrity and coherence of the project portfolio and develops and maintains the portfolio environment to support each individual project within it.

**The primary objectives of the Portfolio Manager are to**:

- Plan and design the Corporate Technology project portfolio
- Provide support to Architecture and Governance to assess business and technical impacts, scope, plan, resource availability and business benefits
- Ensure that the delivery of initiatives is to the appropriate levels of quality, is on time and within budget, in accordance with the portfolio and project plans and governance arrangements
- Provide project delivery confidence through oversight and performance management of internal Perenti personnel and external service providers in the delivery of technology solutions to the Perenti business
- Establish, implement, develop, and control best practices for IT project management

**Key Accountabilities**

The key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to, the following:
Governance:

- Take responsibility for the delivery of the Corporate Technology portfolio of projects in accordance with agreed practices
- Prepare and maintain an up-to-date Portfolio Plan including schedule, dependencies, budget, resources, annual work plan and budget
- Support the delivery of the Corporate Technology strategy through portfolio, program and project prioritisation
- Manage risks to the portfolio’s successful outcome
- Analyse potential business and technical risks and conduct impact assessments to assess activities and risks that may impact the ability to achieve a successful portfolio and then individual project completion
- Define the portfolio’s governance arrangements
- Monitor project delivery exceptions and coach remediation activities

Safety:

- Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with Perenti’s policies and procedures ensuring the welfare of personnel and the protection of assets and the environment at all times
- Foster the development of a safety culture through active demonstration and encouragement

Vendor Management:

- Manage all third-party contributions to the portfolio
- Assist in facilitating vendor negotiations and establish contracts with third party service providers on behalf of the Portfolio
- Manage Service Provider and Vendor Project Managers in their delivery of Corporate Technology projects

**Person Specification**

Role Specific:

- Excellent understanding of the metrics required to demonstrate portfolio and project delivery performance
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of IT contracting, procurement, legal and commercial processes and practices and the relationship to vendor management processes
- Demonstrable experience in delivering complex projects and programmes of work

Core Capabilities
- 10+ years of experience in program and project management in a technology environment
- Experienced in fast-paced, complex, dynamic and multicultural business environment
- Thorough understanding of, or industry qualification in, Project Management Methodology and/or Framework (i.e. P3O / PRINCE2 / PMBOK / Agile)
- Excellent knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling portfolios of work
- Excellent knowledge of project budgeting and resource allocation procedures
- Strong analytical, budgetary and financial management skills
- Strong customer focus with a demonstrable high level of integrity and an effective team player
- Highly effective communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills, including the demonstrated ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with staff at all levels, business stakeholders and external service providers to achieve successful outcomes
- Demonstrable time management and organisational skills including the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
