We are currently seeking a values-driven Children's Secretary in NSW/ACT.

The Salvation Army Youth Services offer an integrated suite of programs engaging with young people across Australia. Our services create intentional avenues for young people to explore opportunities, build support networks, and access, participate and contribute to their communities. Youth services provide a diverse range of programs which include housing and homelessness, driver training, education, employment, and training, AOD support, social and community activities, specialist therapeutic responses and youth justice programs.
About the role
We are currently seeking a values-driven Children's Secretary in NSW/ACT. This role is responsible for strengthening current, emerging and future ministry practice in toddlers and children ministry within an assigned region. The role is part of a collection of teams that support an intergenerational focus and work together collaboratively to provide strategic and tactical support to mission.
You will successfully
- Remain up to date with current research and evidence informed best practice in toddlers and children ministry
- Understand the current and emerging needs for toddlers and children ministry in assigned region
- Strengthen communication between the frontline and national managers
- Assist in the development and implementation of a national plan for faith development for toddlers and children in accordance with the building faith pathways framework
- Engage with Area Officers and frontline leaders to contribute to national strategy
- Communicate national plan and assist Area Officers and frontline leaders to implement the strategy and frameworks
- Collaborate with peer roles across the mission department to identify and promote appropriate ministry opportunities and ensure consistency of practice and resourcing across Australia
- Contribute to a national toddlers and children culture that is aligned with the vision of The Salvation Army
- Collaborate with community services managers to ensure The Salvation Army is adequately meeting the needs of people connected with all Salvation Army mission expressions
- Facilitate outcome focused initiatives across the region to build current, emerging and future ministry strength
- Identify and promote appropriate ministry opportunities within toddlers and children stream
- Coordinate and support local leaders in their engagement with events, resources and programs
- Build networks across assigned region that supports consistent and good practice ministry
- Awareness and collaboration to ensure protection of vulnerable people
This is a permanent full-time role, based in Redfern, Sydney. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Hay Level 13.
You will have
- Actively promote the Vision, Mission and Values of the Salvation Army.
- Knowledge and experience in toddlers and children ministry
- Comprehensive understanding of The Salvation Army Culture
- Relevant qualification in toddlers and children ministry or equivalent experience
- Working with Children check
- A national police record check is required
