**This is a multidisciplinary role - the successful applicant will be appointed based on their qualification**
The role
As the Patient Safety Steward you will lead the development and facilitation of a program to enhance Hospital and Health Service staff. You will initiate, develop and maintain networks and facilitate effective communications with and between internal and external stakeholders. Finally, you will provide leadership and direction to the staff of the unit and foster and encourage a workplace environment that is outcomes focused and instils a culture of continuous improvement through effective communication, training and flexible workforce management practices.
The successful person
You will have demonstrated very high-level knowledge and the ability to analyse data, concepts and strategies. Management and leaderships experience including in the areas of planning, managing resources, budget preparation, project management, objective setting and monitoring, coaching and performance feedback are key to this role. Furthermore, you will have demonstrated proven effective written communication skills, including ability to autonomously compile timely, responsive and complex reports.
Mandatory qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and/or registration or membership with the appropriate association within Australia. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to commencement.
- The successful applicant must hold a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in a relevant, eligible Health Practitioner Profession and be eligible for registration/ membership with the relevant registration board and/or professional body or qualification and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Experience in leadership in the areas of clinical governance and/or patient safety and quality is highly valued for this role
- While not mandatory, a relevant post graduate qualification would be well regarded.
- It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment (Health Employment Directive No. 01/16):

- measles, mumps, rubella (MMR)
- varicella (chicken pox)
- pertussis (whooping cough)
- hepatitis B
- tuberculosis
- It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against COVID-19 (Health Employment Directive No. 12/21 and Queensland Health Human Resources Policy B70.
